“Rescuing a Baby from the Flames: Fire in Giska Village”.
On Friday morning, a serious fire broke out in the village of Giska, near Bender, as a result of which firefighters were able to rescue a four-year-old child from a house engulfed in flames.
According to preliminary information, the incident happened early in the day. Two teams of firefighters were sent to the scene, as rupor.md reports.
The rescuers arrived at the scene and found out that at the time of the fire, a 22-year-old woman and her two children, aged four and one and a half years, were asleep. One of the children was sleeping next to his mother in the room, and the second – in a crib in the next room. The woman awoke to heavy crackling and smoke and noticed that the front door was engulfed in flames. She quickly broke the window, took her youngest son in her arms and managed to get outside. At this time, firefighters arrived on the scene and rescued the second boy from the house engulfed in flames.
It is known that the mother and infant received minor cuts while they were trying to escape through the window.
It is established that the fire started on the open veranda, where a sofa caught fire, after which the fire spread to the attic. The area of the fire was about 30 square meters. Fighting the fire took about an hour.
As a result of the fire, documents, some of the personal belongings of the victims, as well as furniture and appliances were destroyed.
The cause of the fire is still being investigated.
