President Maia Sandu invited political parties to a meeting at the Presidency on Monday, November 18. The main topics of discussion will be judicial reform and combating corruption. The announcement was made by her chief of staff, Adrian Băluțel, who did not specify whether opposition representatives would also be invited, reports tv8.md.
Initially, the meeting was scheduled for Thursday, November 14, but was postponed to Monday at the request of some parties.
On November 11, after a meeting of the Supreme Security Council, Sandu stated that the state must be more active in fighting political corruption. She emphasized that the government, parliament, and other institutions should develop a clear plan to prioritize cases related to vote-buying.
Sandu noted that criminal groups are attempting to influence decisions by buying votes, thereby distorting the will of the citizens. She stressed that legislative changes are needed to combat this phenomenon and that law enforcement must act more decisively.
