The head of state, Maia Sandu, today held a meeting with Pavel Grod, president of the World Congress of Ukrainians, which represents the interests of more than 20 million Ukrainians living outside Ukraine.
The participants in the meeting discussed issues related to the war in the neighboring country, ensuring regional stability and Moldova’s role in supporting Ukrainians who have taken refuge in Moldova, moldpres.md reported.
Maia Sandu emphasized that Moldova remains committed to supporting refugees from Ukraine. The country offers temporary protection using the European Union model. This ensures employment, access to health care and social assistance services, as well as helps Ukrainian children to integrate into the Moldovan education system.
The discussion also emphasized the importance of active participation of the two diasporas in the development of Moldova and Ukraine. This can be achieved by attracting talents, investments and mobilizing political support in the countries where Ukrainians live.
Maia Sandu reiterated Moldova’s willingness to continue close cooperation with Ukraine on the path to EU accession.
