Energy Minister Victor Parlicov emphasised that this winter Moldova is facing a safe start of the winter season for the first time. The country has long-term energy agreements and almost sufficient natural gas reserves for the whole winter.
Parlicov also said that, thanks to the warm autumn, the gas reserves can be used for a longer period of time, and even if the winter is severe, Moldova has the possibility to buy additional gas on the world market at competitive prices, which will not affect the consumers.
Importantly, the minister promises that the energy prices this winter will be 35 per cent lower than last winter. This is a result of the efforts of the government and international support in the previous year when energy prices in the world markets were very high. The government and international partners provided financial support to help citizens cope with high energy bills.
In conclusion, Parlikov assured that the coming winter will be easier and the certainty of stable electricity prices from MGRES will ensure a comfortable period. Compensations for vulnerable people will also remain in place.
