Energy Minister Victor Parlicov mentioned that Moldova can help expand transport capacities toward Alexandroupolis. These statements were made during negotiations with his Hungarian counterpart, Csaba Lantos, according to ipn.md.
“Republic of Moldova was the first to demonstrate that the vertical gas corridor works. Energocom was the first company to transport gas along the route from Alexandroupolis to underground storage facilities in Ukraine. We also created conditions for a business model that was previously only available to Gazprom,” said the minister.
Parlicov confirmed that Moldova is the first country to demonstrate the viability of this gas corridor and that by increasing its transport capacities, it will make a significant contribution to the energy security of the region.
The parties emphasized the importance of increasing gas transport capacity through the vertical corridor and the need for funding from the European Union for infrastructure, which will help improve regional energy security, reduce transportation costs, and integrate the regional gas market with the European market.
In the context of developing renewable energy, the minister invited Hungarian companies to participate in tenders for the construction of large wind and solar parks (105 MW for wind turbines and 60 MW for solar panels), emphasizing that the winners will receive a fixed price for electricity for 15 years.
Additionally, in the field of energy efficiency, Parlicov highlighted that Moldova aims to improve energy efficiency in public buildings and industry, areas where Hungary has made significant progress.
