The Moldovan authorities have decided to extend temporary protection for Ukrainian refugees for another year. This decision will be formally approved by the Cabinet of Ministers on Wednesday.
According to the proposal, all those who arrived from Ukraine and received temporary protection until 1 March 2024 will automatically receive an extension of their identity document until 1 March 2025.
During this time, adult Ukrainians will be able to cross the Moldovan border by presenting an identity card or a valid internal passport. However, Ukrainian citizens will be allowed to use their ID card only once to enter and leave Moldova.
As for minors, they will be allowed to cross the border with a passport for travelling abroad, an identity card, an internal passport (even expired), as well as a birth certificate or a certificate issued by a medical institution confirming the birth of the child.
