In 2023, 762 unemployed people registered with local employment services used vouchers for vocational training. These vouchers had different values, ranging from 1,000 to 1,750 lei, as reported by the National Employment Agency. In addition, each of these unemployed persons received a monthly stipend, exempt from taxation, equal to 35 per cent of the average monthly salary in the country for the previous year. This stipend was paid in proportion to their participation in vocational training courses.
The greatest interest among the unemployed was in cooks (120 graduates), followed by hairdressers (91 graduates), accountants (66 graduates) and computer operators (38 graduates).
The beneficiaries of this programme are persons registered with the local employment services who either have no profession or have a non-core occupation that is not in demand on the labour market.
A voucher for vocational training courses is available only after completing vocational guidance services. Each unemployed person can take one free vocational training course within 24 months.
After completing vocational training courses, 521 unemployed persons were employed (representing 66.2 per cent of the total number of graduates). This includes those who started training in 2022 but completed it in 2023.
