Financial support for the unemployed: How to get allowance in Moldova
People who have lost their job have the opportunity to receive unemployment benefit. To benefit from this assistance, it is necessary to apply for registration of unemployment status at the local branch of the Employment Agency.
The National Committee for Employment of the Population (ANPP) clarified the details of the process of receiving the benefit:
The benefit is granted to those who meet the following conditions:
1. Registered as unemployed at one of the agency’s offices.
2. Does not have income from work.
3. Has worked and contributed to the state social security system for at least 12 months out of the last 24 months prior to registration.
4. Does not refuse suitable employment or participation in employment programs provided by the NAZN.
In case of unemployment due to liquidation or downsizing, the benefit amount will be 50% of the average monthly income earned in the last 12 months before registration. If the reasons for unemployment are different, the amount will be 40%.
The benefit payment period varies from 5 to 9 months depending on the contribution history. Determination of the amount and payment is carried out by the National Social Insurance Fund.
