MP Marina Tauber expressed her opinion on the situation regarding the decision of the commission for emergency situations and the statements of Dorin Recean, prime minister, and Igor Grosu, parliament speaker.
The leaders of the executive and legislative authorities said that they would not allow organised criminal groups to undermine the electoral process in Moldova.
Marina Tauber emphasised that this day would be “historic” for the PDS (Party of Dignity and Truth) and Maia Sandu. In her message, she called the president “Moldova’s main hysteric” and compared the current government to “ward number 6 in a madhouse”.
She also said that she would be closely following the parliamentary session, although she did not plan to attend it herself, and would wait for the PDS and Maia Sandu to finalise the outcome.
On Wednesday, 4 October, an emergency session of the Commission for Emergency Situations and a parliamentary session were held in connection with the Constitutional Court ruling that allowed representatives of the former Shor party to participate in the elections.
Prime Minister Dorin Recean stressed that the state institutions will not allow electoral fraud by organised criminal groups. Parliament Speaker Igor Grosu made a similar statement.
On the same day, law-enforcement bodies conducted searches at the homes of supporters of the former Shor party – representatives of the Chance and Revival parties.
Parliament also amended the Electoral Code to prevent many candidates from the former Shor party from running in the 5 November local elections. The amendments came into force after being promulgated by Moldovan President Maia Sandu on 5 October.
