Igor Dodon has stated before the Supreme Court that the video recording of Vlad Plahotniuc handing him a package is a fake. The prosecutor’s office claims that the video is 50 minutes long, but did not disclose the details of its content.
Dodon said, “From the very beginning there were doubts about the authenticity of this recording. The prosecutors evaded answering many questions. I offered to bring in technical experts to prove that the video is fake. I am in the country despite predictions that I would try to escape. I am sure of my innocence.”
Dodon’s defence is asking for an expert to be brought in to prove that the video has not been tampered with.
Dodon’s lawyers also claim that prosecutor Petr Yarmalyuk violated the procedure when drawing up the protocol and demand his recusal. They consider it wrong that in the Supreme Court the prosecution is represented by the city prosecutor and not by a representative of the Prosecutor General’s Office.
Petru Yarmaliuc argues that the protocol is one of the key pieces of evidence in the case and will continue to fulfil his duties, despite Igor Dodon’s position.
