The Maria Biesu Opera and Ballet Theatre of Moldova is preparing for the return of the ballet “The Nutcracker”. The artists say they are working hard every day in rehearsals, striving to present the performance at the highest level. Tickets for 26 and 28 January are already sold out, as this performance is very popular among the Moldovan public.
The artistic director of the ballet company, Anastasia Chomitskaya, emphasises the importance of the classical dance lessons, which take place daily from 10:00. Rehearsals involve the participation of more than 200 people, including ballet soloists, ballet company, orchestra, conductors, choreographers and scriptwriters.
Some dancers will perform two roles in the performance, which adds double responsibility, says ballerina Cristina Suruceanu. Staging the performance is a challenging task because of the many difficult movements.
The performance was presented to the public on 24 January and will be performed again on 26 and 28 January. The director of the theatre, Nicolae Dogotaru, notes that the ballet is very popular and all tickets are already sold out. The organisers believe that “The Nutcracker” is a real gem of performing arts and one of the most beloved and famous performances of its kind.
