A 69-year-old man from Ungheni district was found guilty of murdering his wife and sentenced to 15 years in prison. He will serve his sentence in a closed penitentiary institution.
According to the version of the Ungheni prosecutor’s office, the murder took place in February this year in the man’s house. The circumstances of the offence remain unknown.
The man denies his guilt and claims that he does not know how the murder took place. He said that on the night of the incident, he was sleeping in another room and heard screams and noise. When he went to the room where his wife was, he found her dead. He said he tried to help by massaging her neck, hoping to bring her back to life, but the woman was already breathless.
The verdict is not final and can be appealed to the Chisinau Court of Appeal within 15 days.
