The director of the Institute for European Policy and Reform (IPRE), Iulian Groza, emphasized the importance of a decade of visa-free regime with the European Union for Moldovan citizens. According to him, moving closer to the EU opens up a number of benefits for Moldovan citizens, such as trade facilitation and reduced roaming charges. It also provides Moldova with economic benefits, including better exports and access to European markets.
Now that the visa-free regime has been in place for ten years, Moldovan citizens can travel freely within the EU without the need for a visa. This opens new opportunities for tourism, business, education and cultural exchange.
Groza also said that after the establishment of the visa-free regime, Moldova gained other advantages, such as lower roaming charges and the possibility of unimpeded bank transfers from the EU. This makes the European experience more accessible and economically more favorable for Moldovan citizens.
Since the beginning of the decade of visa-free travel with the EU, more than two million Moldovan citizens have made more than 31 million trips to the Schengen area, saving more than €270 million on visas.
This important anniversary emphasizes not only the improvement of international relations, but also the practical benefits for every Moldovan citizen that stem from the country’s integration with the European Union.
