Moldova plans to ban the employment of people with criminal backgrounds in private security and detective firms. This draft law was examined at a meeting of the Commission for National Security, Defence and Public Order and proposed for approval in the first reading at a plenary session of parliament.
The proposed amendments concern the law on private detective and security activity and were drafted taking into account the Constitutional Court’s judgement. Currently, the law prohibits the involvement in this activity of persons convicted of intentional offences.
The proposed amendments would allow persons with a criminal record to engage in detective and security activities only if they were subsequently rehabilitated both legally and factually. If the draft law is adopted, the amendments will enter into force after their publication in the Official Monitor.
