As emphasized by the Chairperson of the Commission, Doina Herman, with this ratification, the country has expressed a clear commitment to combat violence in all its forms: within families, against women and girls. One of the key steps taken in this direction will be the establishment of a National Agency for the Prevention and Combating of these phenomena.
The Agency will function as a central and autonomous administrative structure reporting to the Prime Minister of Moldova. It will be responsible for coordinating the implementation of national programs, supporting the government in implementing policies to prevent and combat violence, as well as monitoring and evaluating public policies in this field.
The Agency plans to submit an annual report on the situation and progress in combating violence against women to the Government.
The concept of the draft law on the establishment of the agency will be finalized and registered for consideration by the Parliament’s plenary session. This step is intended to contribute to more effective efforts to prevent and combat violence, reflecting the principle of zero tolerance for such manifestations and strengthening the protection of women’s rights in Moldova.
