The government in Bucharest has approved an agreement on the interconnection of gas and electricity networks between Romania and Moldova. The move is aimed at strengthening co-operation in the energy sector between the two countries. According to a Romanian government press release, the agreement will contribute to strengthening energy ties between the two countries.
The Romanian and Moldovan governments plan to ask the European Commission and the financial institutions to include the projects of this agreement in the European Union’s list of priority energy projects. They also intend to finance the projects from their own sources, as well as by attracting external investments.
