Yesterday, during the meeting of the Sectorial Council for External Assistance in the energy sector, the situation in Moldova’s energy sector, the progress of implementing external projects, and the support needs were discussed. According to a government statement, Prime Minister Dorin Recean thanked external partners for their support in implementing projects that contribute to the country’s energy independence.
He emphasized that the authorities are working to make Moldova energy independent, and that the financial and technical assistance received helps modernize infrastructure, improve energy efficiency, and develop a green economy.
The meeting discussed projects aimed at improving the energy efficiency of buildings, programs of the National Center for Sustainable Energy, and new initiatives in the field of green energy. Additionally, projects supported by the World Bank and USAID were reviewed, such as the construction of high-voltage power lines between Moldova and Romania and the modernization of power plants.
Moldova requested assistance in establishing a central unit for storing oil product reserves, developing the National Territorial Development Plan, including local-level energy infrastructure projects, as well as developing the biogas sector.
Representatives of external partners noted that cooperation with Moldovan authorities is effective and emphasized the importance of implementing reforms and legislative changes to achieve the goal of European integration.
