Updating the social assistance system: MPs amended 19 laws
Parliament today approved the reform of the social assistance reform in its second reading. The initiative, called Restart, aims to improve the governance and transparency of social assistance in line with international standards. This is an important first step in the revision of approaches to social assistance, which was supported by 54 MPs, as moldpres.md reports.
The reform envisages the creation of local social assistance bodies, which will coordinate with the central level in a coherent manner. One of the key points is the revision of the minimum package of social services, which currently does not always meet the needs of citizens.
The project also aims at a more accurate assessment of the need for services and planning at the local level. An integrated social assistance information system will also be developed to ensure effective functioning.
Key aspects include reviewing the cost of services, revising remuneration for professionals and establishing a system of continuous professional training. The National Agency for Social Assistance will also undergo reorganization in the context of these changes.
