The Chisinau city administration plans to purchase 43 trolleybuses from Riga, the capital of Latvia. These vehicles have already been used previously. They include Skoda 24 Tr models (standard, produced in 2008-2009) and Grand Solaris Trollino 18 (double-decker, produced in 2004-2005). According to information posted on the official Telegram channel of the Chisinau administration, the trolleybuses have the following technical characteristics:
– Low-floor interior and an elevator for people with disabilities.
– A system for reducing the ground clearance on the right side of the trolleybus for easy passenger boarding.
– Air conditioning and heating for passenger comfort.
– Water-repellent and fire-resistant flooring with a durable, non-slip surface.
– Passenger information systems, including route indicators and a display with the name of the next stop.
– Electrical energy recovery capability during braking.
The proposal for the acquisition of the trolleybuses has already been submitted to the Chisinau City Council. These new units of electric transport will be used on municipal routes. The value of this transaction amounts to 728,200 euros.
The administration also recalled that 25 trolleybuses of Skoda 24 Tr and Grand Solaris Trollino 18 models have already been purchased in 2020 and are already operating on the streets of the capital.
