The Republic of Moldova and the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia have signed a cooperation agreement between the governments of the two countries. According to the agreement, both countries will work together to expand trade relations, support investments, and cooperate in areas such as education, science, sports, youth, and technology, implementing mutually beneficial bilateral projects. The agreement was signed in Riyadh, where Vice Prime Minister Mihai Popșoi met with Saudi Arabia’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, Prince Faisal bin Farhan Al Saud, reports ipn.md.
Vice Prime Minister Mihai Popșoi praised Saudi Arabia’s willingness to sign this agreement, emphasizing that it will bring benefits to the citizens of both countries.
During the meeting, the parties discussed ways to increase economic exchanges between the Republic of Moldova and Saudi Arabia. Mihai Popșoi highlighted that the Republic of Moldova is ready to export its products to the Saudi market, particularly in the agricultural and agro-food sectors. He also emphasized the importance of opening a direct flight between the two countries, which will facilitate travel.
The Vice Prime Minister invited Minister Faisal bin Farhan Al Saud to visit the Republic of Moldova.
This visit was the first official one since the establishment of diplomatic relations between the Republic of Moldova and Saudi Arabia in 1996. Mihai Popșoi will also have meetings with the Minister of Commerce, the Deputy Minister of Energy, and the President of the Saudi Business Council for Eastern Europe.
