A 33-year-old man from the south of the country was sentenced to 18 years in a semi-closed correctional facility for the rape and robbery of an elderly woman.
This horrific crime took place on 29 July around midnight. According to investigators, the man broke into the 71-year-old woman’s home, taking advantage of her helplessness due to her advanced age. He committed several sexual acts and stole 150 lei.
The next day he returned to the woman’s house, threatening her with death and forcing her to perform sexual acts, and stole 200 lei.
The defendant had previously been convicted for similar offences and pleaded guilty.
The court’s decision can be challenged at the Comrat Court of Appeal within 15 days.
