Former Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Economy of Moldova, Alexandru Muravschi, criticized the recent work of the Constitutional Court. He said that until 2014, the court acted in accordance with the Constitution, but the situation changed after 2016. According to him, since then, both the authorities and the judiciary started violating the Constitution.
Muravski emphasized that since 2016, the Constitutional Court has become subject to political influences and now practically follows the authorities’ instructions. He is concerned that the Constitution may lose its value if changes are adopted without taking into account its basic principles. He also drew attention to plans to introduce EU directives into the Constitution, which could lead to contradictions between European standards and Moldovan legislation.
