In Moldova, children among Ukrainian refugees have access to free medical care, regardless of their immigration status. This will be covered by the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) through the National Health Insurance Company.
Refugee children can benefit from a range of free health services, including emergency medical care prior to hospitalisation, primary health care provided by family doctors, and emergency inpatient care.
The budget allocated by the Health Insurance Company and UNICEF for the provision of medical services to refugee children from Ukraine from January 2023 to February 2024 is 21 million lei. This fund will cover approximately 13,500 children under the age of 18, providing them with the necessary medical care.
