The former Minister of Interior, Anna Revenko, was appointed to the post of Director of the Centre for Strategic Communications and Combating Disinformation. In a social media post, Revenco expressed her gratitude for the trust and emphasised that her new position will help achieve goals such as strengthening the state and uniting citizens in a developing democratic society, as well as Moldova’s movement towards European integration.
She also voiced the priorities, which include the initiation of the institutionalisation process of the Centre, the creation of the Council, the elaboration of the structure and the concept of communication. These steps will serve as a basis for defining the Centre’s internal rules, work plans and budget. Revenko also noted that co-operation with development partners will support these efforts.
She emphasised the importance of combating disinformation, which in today’s world has become a powerful weapon in hybrid conflicts. The Centre will play a key role in providing citizens with the tools to be properly informed, verify sources and distinguish facts from false claims, enabling them to make more informed decisions in their lives.
The new Centre for Strategic Communications and Combating Disinformation will operate under Law no. 242/2023 and will focus on maintaining information integrity and quality in Moldova.
